Without a valid Google Maps API Key, your map won't be able to load on your website. Previously, to save our users time and hassle we just let everyone use our key. The downside of this is of course, we need to charge every subscriber 1c per map view because the liability is simply too big for us to take on. We know this is not ideal because it makes it hard for businesses to budget. So we have come up with an alternative solution to this charge.
You can now get your own Google Maps API key and add it to your No Code Map App account. Each key comes with a US$200 free credit each month. This equates to over 20,000 map views a month which is more than enough for over 99% of businesses out there. Creating a key is free and it only takes a couple of minutes (get your API key here).
Now let me take you through on how to get your key and add it to your account.
STEP 1 - Sign up / login into your Google account
Login into your Google account or create a new Google account if you don't have one already (it's free).
After you are logged, click on this link: Google Maps Platform - Get Started.
Click on Get started.
STEP 2 - Set up direct billing with Google to get your API Key
On this page, on the left-hand side menu, click on Credentials.
Now, set up your billing account with Google Maps.
And your API key will be generated.
Next, you must enable these 3 key APIs (they are used for all of our maps):
They shall all be just 1-click actions after you are logged into the google console.
Lastly, please remember to check you have enabled your billing even if you don't go over your monthly free credit.
STEP 3 - Add your key to your No Code Map App account
Now it's time to add your key to your No Code Map App account.
First, login into your No Code Map App account, and under account settings (on the upper right corner), click on Google Maps API Key.
Next, enter your API key in the space provided, and click on Save Google Maps API key.
Please note - if you have set restrictions on your key (recommended), you would need to get 2 API keys. If you don't have any restrictions then just use the same key for both fields.
And you are done!
